On November 8th, the Department of Defense announced the upcoming departure of Dr. Sean Kirkpatrick as head of the All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO). The DOD commended Dr. Kirkpatrick for investigating over 800 UAP reports during his tenure. In contrast, MUFON has investigated 135,000 cases since 1969. Dr. Kirkpatrick, a physicist, will conclude his distinguished 27-year career in December, with the DOD yet to name his replacement.
Kirkpatrick led AARO for 18 months, a period marked by controversy. Retired intelligence whistleblower Major David Grusch testified to Congress, alleging a government cover-up regarding UAP knowledge, including possession of “non-human biologic material” and crash debris. Kirkpatrick countered these claims, stating that AARO found no evidence of alien agents visiting Earth and claimed Grusch declined multiple interview requests from AARO. Grusch refuted this, asserting that AARO never reached out to him.
As the DOD resolves its internal conflicts, they might consider leveraging MUFON’s extensive database, our cadre of trained Field Investigators, and our statistical analyses to find answers. Investigating 800 cases barely scratches the surface of the phenomenon. Nevertheless, we are encouraged by the establishment of AARO. Meanwhile, MUFON will continue collaborating with Congressional colleagues such as Representatives Tim Burchett of Tennessee and Andre Carson of Indiana.
